What is a Thread Lift?

Thread lifts is a non-surgical treatment that will provide support and lift areas of the face and neck. It can help the ligaments restrengthen in a way, and it can rejuvenate your face without having to use dermal filler.

Just think of it as providing underlying support for your face and neck. It’s like when you’re standing in front of the mirror and pushing and pulling your face back, that’s what threads can do.

But it’s important to make sure it’s a balance between a natural appearance and not causing any puckering or other side effects like that.
Thread lifts also stimulates the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in your skin which over time creates firmer skin, giving a more youthful appearance.

What areas do they treat?

Where threads are placed depends on what results you’re looking for.

Some people have the full face and neck done, others have specific threads for the eyes, cheek, jowls and/or neck.

During your consultation we will recommend what areas should be treated to achieve the results you’re looking for.

How long do they last?

The Thread Lift treatment is not permanent.

Realistically, the manufacturers say they should last about 18 months.

How do I know if it’s a suitable treatment for me?

The first step in seeing if Thread Lifts are recommended for you and will provide the results you are after is to have a consultation with me. If you specifically wanted general facial rejuvenation, I would give you the options which may include:

  • Botulinum Toxin,
  • Anti-wrinkle Treatments,
  • Filler,
  • Non-surgical Thread Lift
  • Skin treatments such as peels or micro-needling, or
  • Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy.

If you’re particularly slim or very thin skinned, you may not be the ideal candidate for having the thread lifts.

But that’s something we would discuss with you during your consultation. And that’s part of our efforts that you are the right person having the right treatments. And if we don’t think it’s the right treatment for you, we will advise you so.

I would talk you through the benefits of each option and provide a recommendation for you. Then you can decide on what you want to do.

We encourage everybody to have a good skincare regimen (and we recommend Aspect Dr for that). And it is really, really important to use good sun protection with SPF at least 50.

What is the recovery like?

The recovery from thread lifts is quite fast. We use a little local anaesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable. After the treatment you may have a little bit of facial swelling to start with. Then 24 hours or maybe even less, you’re looking back to a normal self.

You may feel it temporarily whilst lying on your side when sleeping. You may feel it under your skin if you touch your face. These are all normal and temporary.

The only thing you may see are tiny three little incisions in the areas you get treated, which are 3 to 4 millimetres. You need to very closely to be able to see them.

If you yawn or stretch your face you don’t have to worry about move your threads as they have little barbs that keep them in place.

But we do encourage you do not do any exaggerated facial movements, like a really big yawn, for maybe the first 7 to 10 days as you may feel that there is something there.

How long to I see results?

You will see some immediate results from the treatment, but you’ll start to really notice the difference in 4-6 weeks. And the peak effect of the treatment is about 4-6 months for benefits of the collagen stimulation.

So certain treatments like Thread lifts you do have to be a little bit patient. But that’s part of the education we give you, so you have realistic expectations. Some treatments don’t work instantly. They take time and it’s important that you know that, so you’re not thinking that it hasn’t worked.
